Personal Computer History

All geeks tend to have a web page listing their hardware. It's usually much out of date. Of course, mine is too.

I've finally updated it. I have also rewritten the text about my personal computer history in chronological order and added some photos. More to come if I get around to it.

My computers.

Happy Hacking Keyboard

I have added some Happy Hacking Keyboard xmodmap files for X11 here:

http://hack.org/mc/files/

that might be of use for at least some of you. All three versions make it possible to enter the Swedish characters åäö, which is important to me.

radns 0.9 Release Candidate

It's been a while since I last touched my radns utility to handle RDNSS (RFC 5006), but now it's time for a new release. Or two. The last release was in September 2008, so it's about time.

You know how it is, when you scratch an itch you stop scratching when the itch stops. I hacked the radns program to solve an immediate problem, to get a DNS resolver address to my autoconfigured IPv6 hosts. When it worked enough to be usable, I stopped, even though a lot was still left to do.

The new release candidate solves a few problems, specifically it helps when you have dual-stacked hosts with DHCP clients that compete with radns for ownership of /etc/resolv.conf. I provide two ways of solving it, one with an exit hook to the dhclient DHCP client and one with an exit hook to radns that uses the resolvconf program. The NEWS file says this about the new release:

You can get the goods at http://hack.org/mc/hacks/radns/

Please note that this is a release candidate and more tests needs to be done. Please download and test!

I also have what seems to be working code for time to live-handling of the DNS resolver addresses, but that will be a separate release.

Happy hacking!

There was recently a Police raid on a Swedish Hackerspace here in Malmö. Many rumours were flying around on international sites. I decided to summarize the Swedish press releases and news reports.

My summary is here: Swedish Hackerspace Raided by Police.

Spunk Library

In ancient times, that is circa 1992, I was involved in starting the Spunk Library, an archive of Libertarian Socialist texts and images. It's still around at www.spunk.org, but hasn't been updated in many years.

I decided to keep a local mirror if the spunk.org site should disappear for whatever reason.

Swedish Blog

I have started blogging again. I'm writing in Swedish, however, so this is probably a meaningless news item for most of you. The new blog can be found here:

http://hack.org/mc/blog/

An older blog, also in Swedish, can be found here:

http://hack.org/mc/anteckningar/toc.html

The ancient blog (1996--1998), in English, is not available anymore.
